The lowest common denominator is not good if you are not selling commodities. The lowest common denominator means your offering does not stand out, your ASP average, and performance is struggling. For many of us, the struggle of escaping the lowest common denominators seems as hard as escaping Earth’s gravitational field.
Standing out product wise, and execution wise is hard. It is difficult to find the product people that can deliver the products customers need. It is as difficult to find the sales person that can talk at eye-level to a customer about their problems.
But if we are not willing to make product sacrifices, marketing sacrifices and sales sacrifices, we will never reach escape velocity – escape from mediocrity.
